When the warm temps hit, nothing is better than a dress. Even better when it's machine washable and can be tossed in the dryer!  This one is lined, which one may see as being heavier, but it helps it not stick to the skin, skim the figure, and hide sweat.  A graphic print keeps it from looking too casual (or too much like a paper bag). While I wore it here with pumps, don't be afraid to style a dress like this with flat sandals for an easy summer look that is comfortable yet still high on style. I also like this dress with these gold sandals I picked up last month. And when summer hits, I wear far less makeup yet still get impact with a bold lip and a bit of liquid eye liner (my favorite is Maybelline Line Stiletto which washes off easily yet stays in place through heat and humidity).  L'Oreal sent me this lipcolor a few months ago and it's perfect for the warmer temps because it stays in place, isn't sticky, but doesn't dry out my lips.

  1. You look stunning! I love the pops of red and the crazy hoop earrings!!
I am hoping that you will post some casual summer dresses with sneakers. I’m a shorty like you and am waiting for some inspiration before I jump on that trend. I love the idea, but have a only seen the look with shapeless tee shirt dresses.

  2. I love the red lips and shoes! Maybe if the pattern was red and black…the light blue is throwing me off. I don’t like the stripes, I feel that on me, the stripes would definitely accentuate areas I would prefer not to.

    1. I envisioned wearing this dress with silver jewelry and my silver pumps but when I put it on it felt too one-dimensional. I took this clutch with me on my trip and was putting it away and saw it next to the dress and it just inspired me to get all wacky. It’s hard to tell in the photos but the lips are a hot pink almost red and the shoes are orange. And the best part of these stripes is that they meet above the belly, I think if they were lower it would be like a target right for my gut! 🙂

  3. Vavoom! Perfect, basically. A great dress on you and perfectly styled. The red shoes! You know what you’re doing.

      1. On my old blog I used to delete comments like that; I felt like it was the equivalent of pooping on my front lawn.

      2. I wonder, do people have to try hard to be so rude & unproductive, or does it just come naturally? hmmm … either way, they are very unhappy beings.

  4. YOU look AMAZING! Your confidence and happiness radiate in these photos. You inspire me with every post. I am new to your blog and look forward to them. I try hard to ‘style’ my outfits.. none of us end up looking like the anorexic models.. its unrealistic to think clothing will drape or give a similar look on real bodies.. so why do we have models that really don’t model what clothing on a body should represent..?? .. not really a question.. plus when I am 5 feet nothing it presents more of a challenge. Anyhooo.. I’ll keep trying and you keep up your inspiration… You have talent and personality.. it shows.. Thank you

    1. Thanks so much Leigh! And that’s why I love blogs – women of so many sizes, shapes, ages, and personal styles showcase what they wear and showcase that all of us can have fun with fashion and what may look a certain way on a model may look different – in fact BETTER on a different figure! Being petite does make fashion tough, but luckily more brands are carrying petites and customer reviews so you can get a better gauge of fit before buying. And good thing most drycleaners can hem and shorten sleeves pretty cheaply, my cleaner knows me VERY well! 🙂

  5. Oh God aren’t you embarrassed to have arms like that out on display? If I had arms like that I would wear sleeves. Ew.
