Christmas Eve we go to my sister's house for dinner. It's just immediate family – my mom and her boyfriend, my sister, and the three of us. Each year she makes a fabulous meal and this year was no exception.

I wore my black merino turtleneck from Ann Taylor that I have had for eons, along with new red cropped pants from Ann Taylor and my Nine West leopard haircalf pumps.

My sister wore a gorgeous silk dress from Maggy London with a chunky black statement necklace, black opaque tights and heels.

Emerson wore an adorable pink floral dress from BabyGap that my sister got her for the holidays.  She LOVES this dress, and would wear it every day if we let her.

Debbie had traditional Christmas crackers at each place setting, which was fun – little random gifts and crowns for everyone!

Emerson opened her stocking from “Santa” and then my husband read The Night Before Christmas.

Christmas morning, we went to my mom's house to eat breakfast…

And then open presents!  Emerson LOVES her new dollhouse and has been playing with it non-stop since yesterday morning.  Today we went out to drop off a gift at a friend's house and I was able to test drive my new red Coach leather gloves and pashmina! I haven't yet opened my Tom Ford book – afraid I'll mess it up, it's so gorgeous!

Today has been very low-key – other than going to drop off the gift we have stayed in the house just relaxing and spending time together.

How did you spend the holiday weekend?

  1. how fun to see someone else donning the classic paper crowns out of the christmas crackers! my parents are both from london, so we have had crackers every year since forever — it was always kinda neat to have a tradition that none of my friends had that was ours. this year, hubby + i took a box of crackers over to his family to spread the tradition to them!

  2. I love your running commentary on what all the “girls” wore!

We had my adult children and my mother and mother-in-law with us for Christmas Day. Today has been heavenly with quiet, after the hectic chaos of the past few weeks.

Best wishes for 2012, and thank you for what you do here.

  3. You and your sister look so much alike! I spent my Christmas with lots of family, we did a cupcake competition haha. My family does silly food things during the holidays.
