Plus SIze Picks from the Nordstrom Winter Clearance Sale - Wardrobe OxygenWhen I do sale pick posts, I usually mix all sizes together because I think it’s crap that larger sizes are separated (and usually hidden in the corner of a store if existent at all).  Also many of you Wardrobe Oxygen readers are cusp sized and shop from both departments.  However, when perusing the Nordstrom Winter Clearance sale I was impressed by the plus size options and found so many it warranted a separate post.  How refreshing to be able to make an entire post of great fashion in sizes 12W and up from a department store!  My picks, separated by category:

Dresses

  • I love the simplicity of this cap sleeve maxi dress from MICHAEL Michael Kors. It’s a great basic that can transform with what you pair with it. A denim jacket, a beaded bolero, a scarf worn cowboy style, several long strands of pearls, a waterfall cardigan and boots… On sale 40% off.

  1. I’m a tall curvy woman too. Cropped flares look off to me. I can see straight or skinny crops. They look intentional. But I think cropped flares on anyone look like the person is wearing pants that are too short. The proportions are strange. However, I do love the floor length flare trousers. They look so sleek.

I’m extra impressed with all of your other picks, especially the dresses. I think I would be happy with any of them, or even better, all of them. I’ve always been a fan of the 1920s clothes. The navy! beaded dress is perfect 2016 reincarnation of that era. I KNOW it would look good on me. I suppose it’s just as well I have no $ to spend on clothes right now, especially evening clothes. Then there is the other issue of having, perhaps, only 1 event a year around here that I could wear it to.

There is a jazz festival here at the end of March. A lot, I mean a lot of dancing goes on at that festival. Many attendees go all out and dress in period clothes. This dress would be so perfect for it. Permit me to fantasize a bit. If I bought the dress for the festival, I would also want period accessories to go with it. I’m thinking of a 20s headpiece with a navy feather, black or silver mary jane shoes with 1.5″ heels – the kind of shoe designed specifically for dancing, and a sparkly 20s style beaded bag.

  2. I am a tall curvy woman (5’10”) and no way in heck am I going to wear cropped flares. They look like I got lost in the petites section!! I think cropped pants, as I believe I learned from you, look best on tall women when they are no shorter than ankle, just above the foot. Any flaring looks off to me, but maybe I’m just an old.
